Product Overview
A vacuum switch tube is the sealed arc-extinguishing unit used inside vacuum circuit breakers, load switches, vacuum contactors and special switching devices. The tube contains the contacts, shields, bellows and conductive parts required to make and break an AC circuit in a vacuum.
The product is used in power distribution, coal mining, chemical plants, metallurgy, rail transit and industrial motor-control systems. Different internal contact structures are selected for short-circuit protection, load switching or high-frequency contactor operation.

Core Advantages
Application-specific internal structure
Circuit-breaker tubes use contact systems designed for fault-current interruption, while contactor tubes prioritize low moving mass and high operating frequency. This prevents a high-frequency motor starter from using a contact system intended only for occasional short-circuit operation.
Arc contained inside the sealed tube
When contacts open in mining starters, industrial switchgear or motor-control equipment, the arc remains inside the vacuum chamber. External insulation parts are not exposed to oil, gas discharge or an open arc path.
Operating life matched to switching duty
Circuit-breaker models complete 30 or more rated short-circuit interruptions, while contactor models support at least one million mechanical operations. The selected tube therefore matches either protection duty or frequent switching duty instead of using one life specification for every application.
Customization Capabilities
- Circuit-breaker, load-switch, contactor or special-purpose internal configuration.
- Rated voltage, rated current, breaking current and switching-duty requirements.
- Fixed and moving terminal geometry, ceramic dimensions and installation interface.
- Contact gap, stroke, closing force, opening force and bellows travel.
- Model replacement from equipment drawings, tube samples or existing part numbers.
Quality Control
Structure-specific incoming checks
Contacts, bellows, shields, ceramic parts and conductive terminals are inspected against the selected tube category. Breaker and contactor parts are not released under the same component set.
Pre-sealing alignment
The fixed contact, moving contact, shield and bellows are positioned before vacuum furnace processing. Contact concentricity and terminal alignment are confirmed while the assembly remains accessible.
Duty-matched testing
Final inspection checks insulation, contact condition, current path, movement and external dimensions against the confirmed model. Breaker tubes and contactor tubes are released against their respective operating-duty requirements.
Why Choose Us
Four switch-tube categories from one electro-vacuum factory
Wanping manufactures breaker, load-switch, contactor and special-purpose tubes, allowing the internal structure to follow the actual switching duty.
Twelve vacuum furnaces
The factory uses twelve vacuum furnaces for sealed ceramic-and-metal assemblies and eight post-processing systems for ageing and stabilization after sealing.
Drawing and sample replacement capability
Existing tubes can be reproduced or modified from product drawings, physical samples, supplier models and confirmed electrical and mechanical requirements.
FAQ
Q: What is the production lead time?
A: Standard vacuum switch tubes are produced in 20–40 days. New custom models require 40–60 days for sample development.
Q: How are vacuum switch tubes packed for export?
A: Each tube is separated with shock-absorbing material, fixed inside an export carton and palletized when the shipment quantity requires it.
Q: What is the difference between breaker and contactor tubes?
A: Breaker tubes are designed to interrupt short-circuit current. Contactor tubes use a lighter moving system for frequent switching and reach at least one million mechanical operations.
Q: Does the tube include an operating mechanism?
A: No. The switch tube is the sealed switching component. It is installed with a matched breaker, load-switch or contactor operating mechanism.
